I posted a piece reporting the terrible fires in Washington and Oregon State of which 500,000 unfortunate people have been evacuated and the governor of Oregan warning it could be the greatest loss of life and property from wildfire in state history. TBW
I posted the article, as I always do onto my Facebook page where I have nearly 10,000 followers, however, Facebook decided to warn people of reading the article because I am based in the Netherlands????
Have you visited your Twitter feed or Facebook page recently? I have and I can not believe the hate, anger, vile language and filth being spewed at my screen. You would be forgiven if you thought the world has become insane. Our world has become divided and social media has caused it.
As you may have noticed the world recently has exploded into a hate-filled, ball of confusion. Our people have become a population that now disbelieves everything. We have seen, for instance, democracy been assaulted by social media. In America and most of these assaults began on social media campaigns designed by algorithms to make you addicted to their product and make you spend more on advertisements. However, algorithms are AI and are designed to keep us hooked to the screen, but, AI is not a person, it is a program which will develop and evolve and become better at keeping us hooked to the screen, however, AI will never know the reality, peoples feelings or even the truth because it is a program but will still go evolving into trapping innocent people into psychologically doing things they normally wouldn't do.
In America, social media has clearly divided the country into two sides who don't want to listen to each other under any circumstances. The BLM, Antifa, White Supremacy, MAGA movements who are all using social media to spread their hate have caused a culture war with the hate being spewed all over the
internet while algorithms, who are designed to share this info have been grabbing the anger and hate and spreading it around the net at break net speed bringing the warring parties together escalating the problem immensely.
Facebook, Twitter, Google, Instagram and other products have actually divided America in a way they may never recover. Tech is bringing the worst out of America and its society is in freefall evolving into chaos and it can't be fixed because they are addicted to their screens, (not just Americans I might add) which will over time escalate the problem. AI, which is already out there and will keep getting better at keeping us literally, glued to our screens.
According to Wikipedia, existential crises are moments when individuals question whether their lives have meaning, purpose, or value, and are negatively impacted by the contemplation. As you may know, depression among our young people and older people has exploded recently as have suicides. Social media is now showing American people to be suffering a countrywide existential crisis. Russia and China, of course, are spreading conspiracy theories abound and using social media as a springboard to create more problems, such is our world today sadly.
I will sign off now but I want to finish with a creepy story which happened to my dear wife and me over the weekend. I have an Apple computer in my office which is on more or less constantly on. I was sat behind my computer when my wife walked into my office to tell me she was going shopping, she asked me if I needed anything, I told her I needed a new wrist strap for my Seiko watch but we agreed we would buy the strap another time when we shopped together. After she left I clicked my mouse and computer screen light up. I went to my Facebook page... I was astonished to see my screen bombarded with Seiko wristwatch straps and have been bombarded with them ever since. Facebook, who have the cheek to try and block my honest post of the fires in Washington are obviously secretly listening in to my private conversations with my wife.
Stay safe folks.
