Marching On Together

Marching On Together I have had a romance with a lady since my childhood just like thousands of other people around the world who are also in love with her. I have remained in love with her through the many bad times and the few good times, my love for her has never faltered and never will. My lady's name is Leeds United and she is just five games away from returning to the English Football Premiership, after sixteen years in the football wilderness. In the sixties, seventies and early nineties my lady was known as "Super Leeds," however in 2003, my love was relegated from the English Football Premiership due to financial miss-handling by her owners. "Super Leeds," dropped down to the third tier of English football. If Leeds United can grab ten points from their last five games my lady will be back where she belongs in the higher echelons of English football and I can once more embrace my love with happiness.

Leeds 5 v 0 Stoke, 7 points needed from 4 games...

Strange days indeed: We have moved on we are "woke." Businesses are closed but open to looters: We punish the cops but not the anarchists: Not allowed to visit our dying elderly, who are left alone in nursing homes but we are allowed to fly on a crowded jet

A Wide Awakes parade in Lower Manhattan, one of a series of political rallies held in New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Cleveland, and Boston during the first week of October 1860. Credit Wikipedia.

We are said to be living in "woke," times apparently. According to the Urban Dictionary: woke, is the act of being very pretentious about how much you care about a social issue. Meaning a person has passed the process of waking up. They're done with it. They've moved on.

So we have moved on we are "woke." Like John Lennon said. "Strange days indeed."

Nobody Told Me

John Lennon

Everybody's talking and no one says a word
Everybody's making love and no one really cares
There are Nazis in the bathroom just below the stairs
Always something happening and nothing going on
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Nobody told me there'd be days like these
Strange days indeed

As the great human pause continues we are indeed living in strange days, the world since Covid-19 appeared, has been turned upside down and back-to-front. As we sipped champagne on New Year's Eve, 2019 did any of us see this coming, I certainly didn't. Who would have guessed as we sang
Auld Lang Syne that in just 6 months time almost 10 million people would be infected and nearly half a million people would be dead from a strange virus which the US claims, comes from China and China claims it comes from the US?

Who would have guessed statues of the worlds greatest leaders would be under attack and global icons such as Sir Winston Churchill who saved the UK from Nazis Germany would be described as a racist and have his monument damaged in London by a movement called Black Lives Matter? And who would have guessed protesters would tear down a George Washington statue and set fire to its head? Strange days indeed.

Who would have guessed riots would erupt in major cities by anarchists, hell-bent on destruction after the senseless murder of another dark-skinned American by a racist cop? And who would have guessed we would hear of calls to punish the cops but not the anarchists? Who would have guessed businesses would be closed but open to looters? Who would have guessed wealthy A-listers would raise money, not for the needy but for rioters? And who would have thought rioters would raize their own poverty-ridden areas to the ground, burning food banks and grocery stores, the very businesses who help the homeless, the needy and the poor?

Who would have guessed we would be living among murderers, rapists and violent criminals after our governments release thousands of prisoners because jails are deemed unsafe for them due to the Covid-19?   Who would have thought untold millions of jobs would be lost but not one government official job lost? And finally, who would have guessed, our beloved elderly family members would be left to die alone in nursing homes? Families not allowed to visit but allowed to fly on a crowded jet?

The term 'woke' and 'wide awake' first appear in political culture and political ads during the 1860 presidential election in support of Abraham Lincoln. The Republican Party cultivated the movement to primarily oppose the spread of slavery as described in the Wide Awakes movement.

Excellent post Gary! That song with that video is absolutely perfect for today. Really enjoyed it. I come to your site not to cause you bad feelings. I come because many times your posts are telling and I look at all sides of everything always without accusations or arguments. Just an open awake mind wondering most times, what the hell is going on in this mixed up liar world because nothing makes sense!. That's it Gary. I see things most people dont, it's a gift from God. Hence my nickname, hawkeye. Been this way all my life even as a small child.

So, dont blow me off. Consider things I point out, research them, ask yourself, why does she say these things? I'm not stupid and I'm not crazy. In fact the complete opposite is true.

Remember also the Bible tells us to entertain strangers voices because they may have been visited by Angel's and are unaware. We the people must stay United because no matter who you believe these days it is very apparent those in power want us divided. I am here for good reason. Sometimes I am very point blank blunt, but mean no offense. Consider it! I want us all to be well and I demand truth. That's my only motive.
Several FL counties are passing mandatory mask wearing laws. OSHA, the oversight for construction related business, is in news stating these mask laws are violating their regulations of "required breathable air" while working. They say the masks constrict oxygen levels to an unsafe level and they are filing complaints. Good! I agree. Does anyone know what the Latin translation of virus is?
Poison. Think about that please!

So all these draconian laws get passed but as your great post today points out, we cant be with our loved ones in the hospital but we can go on a plane with no social distancing. This kind of behavior is littered in this covid pandemic. Too many holes like this only turn my mind to suspicion. I do not and have not had a signal box(cable/satelitte tv) since 2010. I never watch it. I scan news titles online once a day and that is it.
To truly awaken you must cut that cord among others, because that frequency box is brainwashing like a drug. Dont believe me? Try going without it for one week. You go through withdrawals. I speak truth Gary. I'm telling you to help. Thank you and I hope we can remain sociable.

Since when are "cops punished"? Not in the US. In the rare instance when cops are fired for misconduct, the bad cop has no problem finding work with a neighboring department. "Shield laws" provide cops with blanket immunity from prosecution. Not only are police salary, benefits, and pensions extremely robust, the police participate in other revenue sources such as asset forfeiture. In the US, the police have the right to seize assets simply based on the suspicion of illegal activities, and once the assets are seized, even when the individual is found innocent, in order to recover lost assets a person must endure time-consuming and expensive legal action. The US GAO estimates that 93% of all assets are wrongfully taken by police authorities, yet of the billions of dollars lost every year, only 17% is returned to the public. The police and the police department share in the revenue earned from seized assets. In reality, it's state-sponsored theft.

No, I don't feel sorry for the police. Policing has entirely changed over my lifetime. I remember a time when the police identified themselves as "Peace Officers" and they were always happy to lend a helping hand. Not any more. The militarization of the police has created an us vs. them mentality, which has alienated many citizens.

One additional point of clarification. No, governments are NOT releasing violent offenders. The prisoners being released are all non-violent drug offenders. The US prison system is full of non-violent drug offenders serving sentences due to mandatory drug sentencing laws that originated from the 48 year long War on Drugs.

Gary, friend, please fact check statements like this.

Thanks.,

On the cop punishment thing, it reads, "we would hear of calls to punish the cops." as for the violent offenders, point taken

Gary, why do you (like everyone else) not include the global RECOVERED CV19 numbers in your report? As of June 19, 2020 they were NINE times the number of global deaths.

SOURCE: CTV News
The outbreak by the numbers (as of 9:00 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2020):
Globally: 8,975,776 cases | 4,448,964 recovered | 468,724 deceased

What's the point, Maiden, recovery is over, they are better, gone, done, good luck, the worry is the increase in new cases and deaths.

This was in the New York times, Joseph Edward Williams shot and killed a man in Tampa, Fla., on March 20, the authorities said, one day after he was among more than 160 inmates released from Hillsborough County jails.I don't call that nonviolent!
