In the book of Jude, the last book of the Bible before A Revelation to John, one of Enoch's many prophecies is mentioned, Enoch is also mentioned in Genesis.
Enoch made many prophecies which proved to be accurate about the flood which happened in Noah's time and the fire judgment which is coming and, the two comings of the Messiah, the first being 2,000 years ago as we know. Enoch teaches us that the Messiah is the Son of God and that He will shed His blood to redeem mankind. All this was written 1,000 years before the flood.
Jude, 1:14. Yes, the seventh one in line from Adam, Eʹnoch, also prophesied about them, (the last generation) when he said: “Look! Jehovah came with his holy myriads 15 to execute judgment against all, and to convict all the ungodly, concerning all the ungodly deeds that they did in an ungodly way, and concerning all the shocking things that ungodly sinners spoke against him.”
Enoch prophesied mankind would have 7,000 years of history but why should we believe what Enoch claims?
The book is an ancient Jewish religious work, ascribed by tradition to Enoch, the great-grandfather of Noah and copies of his book were found in the dead sea scrolls. According to Ken Johnson, most Christian denominations and traditions may accept the Books of Enoch as having some historical or theological interest, but they generally regard the Books of Enoch as noncanonical or noninspired religious work, however, part of Enoch's book is mentioned in detail in the penultimate book of the Bible, The Epistle Of Jude, a servant of Jesus, which would, therefore, give rise to the authenticity of Enoch's book. Enoch is also mentioned in the first book of the Bible, Genesis.
The Ancient Book of Enoch contains numerous prophecies about the flood which happened in Noah's time and the fire judgment which is coming and, the two comings of the Messiah, the first being 2,000 years ago as we know. Enoch teaches us that the Messiah is the Son of God and that He will shed His blood to redeem mankind. The Ancient Book of Enoch prophesies a window of time in which the Second Coming of the Messiah would occur, he prophesies that there will be twenty-three Israeli Prime Ministers ruling in a fifty-eight term period from AD 1948, when Israel became a nation again, to the beginning of the Tribulation period, and much more.
The Ancient Book of Enoch may predate the Old Testament by an incredible 1,000 years. Ken Johnson the Biblical scholar wrote of the Ancient Book Of Enoch; "If we find it contains accurate prophecy, we must see it as a true gift from God.
Elijah, the Jewish Prophet
Elijah who is thought to be the greatest of all Jewish prophets and he formed a "school of prophets." The great prophet Elijah taught the world was to exist for 7,000 years and it is thought, Elijah took this information from the Ancient Book Of Enoch which teaches the same prophecy.
The 7,000-year prophecy
The history of mankind will last for 7,000 but according to the Bible, 1,000 of them years will come after Armageddon, when Jesus will rule Heaven and Earth, after which Satan will be allowed to roam Earth once more to test mankind for a short period before he is destroyed forever.
Enoch prophesied mankind would have a 7,000-year history, take away the 1,000 years for Christ’s Millennial Reign, which would leave us with 6,000 years of history, the other 1,000 coming on the other side of Armageddon.
If we could come up with the exact date of creation, a simple mathematical equation adding 6,000 years onto the date of creation would give us an exact date of the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
( Massive spoiler alert; let me remind you, Jesus said, not one person knows when Jehovah's day, (Armageddon) will be, only God himself.)
The Date Of Creation
Let's say the day of creation was 4,000 BC, which is in the ballpark of most Bible scholars, Jesus was killed around 33 AD which was 1,987 years ago meaning the first 6,000 years history of mankind would end in the year 2033 and the great tribulation prophesied in the Bible would begin sometime around 2029 which is uncomfortably close.
The big problem is no one can agree on the exact date for the creation of mankind. Many scholars have attempted to find an actual date of creation and although most come up with a ballpark figure of around 50 years or less, they all can't agree on one actual year, so, I have used two different scholars from different time periods to help me with Enoch's prophecy. ( I have no evidence whatsoever the two dates I have chosen are the correct ones).
My first choice is Martin Luther who was a German professor of theology, composer, priest, monk and a seminal figure in the Protestant Reformation, he was born in 1483 and his "estimate" of the beginning of creation was 3,961 BC.
let's take Martin Luther's creation date of 3,961 BC, add to that 2,020 AD which is where we are at today and we arrive at the scary number of 5,980, just 20 years short, of the 6,000 years prophesied by Enoch. The date of Armageddon if Martin Luther's creation date is correct, Armageddon will happen in the year 2039.
Dean Thomas Coombs
My second choice is Dean Thomas Coombs who is a Bachelor of Theology from Canada, he was born in 1962 and he landed on 3,960 BC, one year later than the great Martin Luther.
let's take Dean Thomas Coombs creation date of 3,961 BC, add to that 2,019 AD which is where we are at today and we arrive at the scary number of 5,980, just 21 years short, of the 6,000 years prophesied by Enoch. The date of Armageddon if Dean Thomas Coombs creation date is correct, Armageddon will happen in the year 2040.
Other attempts by a scholar to arrive at the date of creation.
James Ussher (1581-1656), the famous and respected Archbishop of Ireland.
Ussher relied solely on data from the Bible to erect his historical framework. He chose the death of King Nebuchadnezzar as reliable data upon which to anchor all the earlier biblical dates. Working meticulously backward from there, he ended up with his date for the creation of October 23, 4004 BC. His creation date would mean Armageddon would have happened in 1997, although it was a bad year for many, it didn't bring about a new heaven and earth.
A dream of the 70 shepherds, Enoch's vision.
Enoch had a vision or a dream. In his dream 70 shepherds, (Jewish rulers) were divided into three time periods of 35 - 23 - and 12, according to Enoch the last 12 would come during the tribulation period just before Jesus returns so we can forget about them for now. Now, the first 20 Jewish shepherds, or rulers, were the first twenty kings who ruled Israel after David and Solomon, starting with King Rehoboam and all the following Kings down to the 20th, which was King Zedekiah, which brings us to the year 607 BC, which was the year when God decided he had had enough with Jewish Kings representing Him because of the poor behaviour of the Jewish people and their rulers. So He allowed Jerusalem, God's earthly throne to be conquered by the Babylonians, (An easy cross-reference is adding 606 years BC and 1,914 years AD, we get 2,520 years. If we take 2,520 away from 1914 we arrive at the year 606 B.C.E. The Common Era started at year 1, not year zero so the actual year is 607, B.C.E.)
After the first 20 shepherds, or rulers, Kings, Enoch dreamed of a gap, of 11, this gap of 11 being Gentile Empires who ruled over the Jews after the last King, Zedekiah, these empires were, Babylon, Persia, and nine Seleucid and Ptolemaic powers.
14 Maccabees shepherds and Bar Kokhba
After the gap or the 11 Gentile empires came 14 Maccabees Jewish shepherds, rulers, (The Maccabees were a group of Jewish rebel warriors who took control of Judea, which at the time was part of the Seleucid Empire.)
After the Maccabees came another gap or Gentile Empire, namely the Romans leaving one more Jewish, shepherd ruler Bar Kokhba, (he was the Jewish leader of what is known as the Bar Kokhba revolt against the Roman Empire in 132 CE, establishing an independent Jewish state which he ruled for three years as Nasi ("Prince"). His state was conquered by the Romans in 135 following a two and half-year war.) bringing the total to 35 Jewish shepherds. The gap of 12, or foreign Empires is concluded and the first time period of 35 is covered. 20 Jewish Kings, 14 Maccabees and Bar Kokhba which completes the first 35 Jewish leaders, Shepherds in Enoch's dream.
From 70 AD to 1948 and Modern Israel
Now we shoot forward from around 70 AD to 1948.
In 1948 Israel was declared a nation again, which of course Enoch had prophesied incredibly before the flood!
Enoch dreamed of a further 23 shepherds, rulers, who would " pasture (rule) but when they completed their periods they would pasture 58 times," what could that mean? What that means is, there will be 23 shepherds, rulers, well actually they are prime ministers and some of them will be re-elected, so modern Israel will consist of 23 rulers in 58 governments up to the tribulation period. We know Enoch's prophecies are accurate because he prophesied, the flood, The Messiah, The Messiah would come twice, The Messiah would die for mankind's redemption and he prophesied a modern Israel, along with many more. So we know Enoch is accurate, so if we work out how many Israeli Prime Ministers have been elected and governments since 1948 we can clearly work out loosely as to when the tribulation period will begin.
Israeli Prime Ministers since 1948
The three ways.
Today, since 1948 - Israel has had 19 Prime Ministers of modern Israel of the prophesied 23 shepherds or rulers and 35 governments (including coalitions). The halfway point of this prophecy would be roughly around the time of Yitzhak Shamir, he being the 11th Prime Minister of modern Israel in March 2001 when his Likud party became the 29th government of Israel. So if 2001 is loosely the half-way-point of Enoch's prophecy, from 1948 to 2001 in 53 years, double that we arrive at 106, add 53 to 2001 and we arrive at 2054, the tribulation period would begin roughly then.
However, Enoch's prophecy could be broken down another way, 4 of the Prime Ministers have sat double terms, meaning we find the half-way-point would be around Ehud Olmert, he ended his term of office in 2009. We use the same simple sum, 1948 to 2009 = 61 half-way double the number 122. 1948 + 122 = the year 2070 would then become the beginning of the Tribulation Period.
A third way would be at the moment there have been 34 Israeli governments, including coalitions and 18 Prime Ministers, halfway would have been the 29th government of Ariel Sharon, his last year in office being 2006, we do the simple equation, 1948 to 2006 = 58, double it we come to 116, 1948 + 116 = 2064. Now we have three dates for the beginning of the Tribulation period 2054, 2070 and 2064, the average for these three years would be, 2064 but remember, God has said he would shorten the days near the end so it could be earlier. So if we believe Enoch and we have no reason not to, the Great Tribulation mentioned in the Bible will begin sometime around 2064. When a further 12 Jewish Prime Ministers will run a term of office.
Bible prophecy points at the beginning of pangs of distress for our planet (End Times) started in 1914.
According to The Ancient Book Of Enoch, the beginning of the Great Tribulation Will Begin some time around 2060.
Daniel's link to 1914
Death has dominated man since the beginning of time, however, in 1914, whether due to war, famine, or plague death became prevalent on a global scale. But there is more, much more, Bible chronology indicating God’s Kingdom was established in heaven in 1914, this is shown by a prophecy recorded in chapter 4 of the Bible book of Daniel. God's Kingdom is what we all pray for in the Lord's Prayer. God’s heavenly government will replace all other governments here on Earth.
More than 2,500 years ago God was so disgusted with the behaviour of his chosen people the Jews, he decided to punish them after he had warned them many many times about their bad and immoral behaviour. Because of the Israelites’ disobedience, God allowed them to be conquered by the Babylonians, way back in 607 B.C.E. From that time on, no more kings represented Jehovah in Jerusalem. So 607 B.C.E. marked the beginning of what the Bible claims as the seven times or the period when God’s rulership would be interrupted. At the end of the seven times, God would install a new ruler to represent Him, this time, someone in heaven. That’s when the other prophecies we read about in Daniel would be fulfilled. We know the seven times started in 607 BC but the big question now is: When did the seven times end? If we can answer that question, we will know when the new, God’s Kingdom will begin in Heaven. During his earthly ministry, Jesus indicated that the seven times had not yet ended, so they must be a very long period of time. The seven times started hundreds of years before Jesus came to earth in 607 B.C.E, and they continued until sometime after he returned to heaven. Scholars of the Bible have examined this and other prophecies very carefully and come to the conclusion that the seven times would end in the year 1914 and major world events since then confirm that 1914 was indeed the year that God’s Kingdom began ruling in heaven. It was the year when this world entered its last days or the time of the end. There are many more clues, Matthew 24, and Luke 21 both highlight the end-times, Jesus's disciples asked Him when will we know the conclusion of this system of things? Jesus replied, in Matthew 24:6, you are going to hear of wars and reports of wars, see that you are not alarmed, for these things must take place, but the end is not yet. Jesus continued, for the nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. ( In 1914, 7 quakes of M6 or higher were recorded, in 2014, 155 were recorded and they are still rising), all these events are the beginning of pangs of distress.
King Nebuchadnezzar and his strange dream
So how did Bible scholars come to believe that the seven times would end in the year 1914? Chapter 4 of Daniel: King Nebuchadnezzar the mighty king of Babylon had a disturbing dream about a giant tree, Daniel was asked by the King to explain the dream. Daniel concluded the great tree represented King Nebuchadnezzar himself. The gigantic tree was figuratively ‘chopped down in the dream by God himself but God did not kill the tree, so, the dreams meaning was, Nebuchadnezzar reign would be cut short for seven years. Months later, King Nebuchadnezzar temporarily lost his sanity and kingship for a period of seven years, which can be found in Daniel 4:25. When God restored his sanity, Nebuchadnezzar regained his throne allowing God's prophecy to come true. But as in many Bible prophecies, the dream had a double meaning. What does the tree of Daniel chapter 4 represent? In the Bible, trees sometimes represent rulership. In the greater fulfilment of the Daniel chapter 4 prophecy, the immense tree in Nebuchadnezzar's dream symbolizes God’s rulership too. So what could the tree being chopped down mean? The chopping down of the tree represented an interruption in Nebuchadnezzar’s kingship, which was later restored by God after 7 times, but, the 7 times is also represented as an interruption in God’s rulership here on Earth.
When Nebuchadnezzar destroyed Jerusalem, which God allowed as a punishment to the Jews for their terrible behaviour, the kings of Israel were actually representatives of God himself. The seven times represent the period during which God allowed the nations to rule over the earth without interference from God Himself. So the “seven times” which God allowed without interference from any kingdom began in October 607 B.C.E., when, according to Bible chronology, Jerusalem was destroyed by the Babylonians.
How Long Are The Seven Times?
The “seven times” of Jehovah's absence could not merely be seen as the seven years as is the case in Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, no, Jesus indicated the answer when he said that “Jerusalem, God's earthly throne, would be trampled on by the nations until the appointed times of the nations are fulfilled, which can be found in Luke 21:24. The appointed times of the nations, which began in 607 B.C.E., were still underway even when Jesus was on the earth and many many years after too. As ever we can find the answer in the Bible to help us to determine the length of those prophetic, seven times. In Revelation 12:6, a woman is fed and protected for a time, times and a half of a time which was termed to be 1,260 days. (The woman represents Old Testament Israel and New Testament Christians who God had dressed in honour and splendour (Ezekiel 16). Applying the prophetic rule “a day for a year,” the 1,260 days would, therefore, represent 1,260 years. Now back to Revelation 6: 14. But the two wings of the great eagle were given to the woman so that she might fly into the wilderness to her place, where she is to be fed for a time and times and half a time away from the face of the serpent, time times and half a time is half of 7 times. Time is 360 days = 360 years, times are 720 days = 720 years and half a time are 180 days = 180 years, add them together = 1260 years, so if 3.1/2 times is 1260 years, the 7 times must be 2,520 years. Therefore, the “seven times, mentioned in Daniel 4” which would then be 2,520 years, from 607 B.C.E would end in 1914., Numbers 14:34; Ezekiel 4:6.
Time, times and half a time is mentioned several times in Revelation and is probably pointing to the 3 and a half years of The Great Tribulation before the return of Christ, time, 1 year, times, 2 years and half a time, six months.
An easy cross-reference is adding 606 years BC and 1,914 years AD, we get 2,520 years. If we take 2,520 away from 1914 we arrive at the year 606 B.C.E. The Common Era started at year 1, not year zero so the actual year is 607, B.C.E.
Nebuchadnezzar's other dream
Nebuchadnezzar had another dream and once again Daniel was summoned to explain the dream to the King. Nebuchadnezzar dreamed of an enormous statue with a head of gold, the statue's chest and arms were made of silver, it's stomach and thighs were made of copper, its legs were of iron and its feet were mixed with iron and clay. God cut a huge stone from a mountain, which he threw and it struck the feet of the statue. The statue was crushed into powder and blew away in the wind, and the stone became a large mountain, and it filled the earth. Daniel explained the dream to King Nebuchadnezzar: Your kingdom is the head of gold, the silver chest and arms is a kingdom that will come after you and rule the world, then there will be another nation, one like copper, which will rule over the whole earth, the next kingdom will be strong like iron and will rule the world, finally, there will be a divided kingdom with some parts strong like iron and some parts weak like clay. The stone that becomes a mountain is God’s Kingdom and will crush all these kingdoms and will last forever.
Nebuchadnezzar's rule was the golden head of the statue which was followed by silver chest and arms, this was Cyrus, King of the Medio Persian Empire, the copper stomach and thighs was the empire of Alexander the great, the legs of iron was the Roman Empire, the final empire would rise from a kingdom captured by the Romans and that was the British Empire, the biggest empire ever, one in four people were under British rule at the turn of the 20th century.
"But by 1914 the British Empire was strained, nations under the rule of Britain were fighting for independence and by WWII it was almost gone, although many scholars believe the empire is still represented today by an Anglo American Empire. So we are down to iron feet mixed with clay and teetering on the brink and waiting for God's huge stone to smash the fragile statue ending this lousy system of things.
The feet of clay and iron is not yet clearly understood, some believe it refers to Western Democracy and constant fighting between left and right-wing governments, another belief is the West's immigration policies allowing ethnic populations into their countries, or the best yet, in my opinion anyway, clay, humans and iron, technology a mix which is doomed to failure.
