Map and Data, USGS.Another massive quake has rocked the Kamchatka region of Eastern Russia tonight—a magnitude 7.8 earthquake, 127 km E of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Russia, is yet another major quake from the ongoing cluster to hit the area. A massive seismic sequence, which began on July 30th, has bombarded the area after a magnitude 8.8 quake, the 6th largest in recorded history, rocked the peninsula. Tonight's Mag 7.8 is the 26th major quake (mag 6 or higher) to hit the area since July 30 2025. According to NOAA, no tsunami warning has been issued.
Earlier, a M6.1 Earthquake rocked Papua, Indonesia, after a M6.0 Earthquake struck the New Ireland region, Papua New Guinea, last night.
Today's major quakes (mag 6 or higher) bring the year's total to date to 106, which is slightly above average.

Imagine that you are American soldiers and you have to be on a dead watch along with members of ISIS and al-Qaeda, not to mention 9/11.
