A massive magnitude 7.8 quake has rocked Alaska with a tsunami warning issued. Bill Laughing Bear's Cabin shaken up by the quake but he is ok: The powerful quake is the biggest of the year so far

A massive magnitude 7.4 quake has rocked Alaska literally minutes ago with a tsunami warning issued, as many of The Big Wobble readers know, Bill Laughing Bear our friend and co-writer on this blog live in Alaska, his mother Tina who lives in Washington State sent me this email below just seconds ago:
Hi, Gary,
I am on the phone with Bill. They just had an earthquake of 7.4 mag. just a few minutes ago. Even though it’s about 672 miles from Bill’s, his cabin shook including the hanging oil lamps in the house, the spice basket that hands from the ceiling in the kitchen and his stained glass crucifix that hangs in a window. It pushed him forward - bouncing him as he sat on his couch and caused the wall pictures to turn crooked. The bench swing in the yard was swinging and the trees were creaking. A Tsunami warning came over his cell phone. He wanted me to let me know he was ok.
Love and prayers, Tina
Updates to follow.

Reuters: An earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck off the south-south eastern coast of the Alaskan peninsula on Tuesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The quake, with an epicentre at a depth of 10 km (6 miles), prompted the U.S. National Tsunami Warning Center to issue a tsunami warning for the region. The Tsunami Warning Center said a tsunami warning was in effect for South Alaska and the Alaska Peninsula, Pacific Coasts from Kennedy Entrance, Alaska to Unimak Pass, Alaska. :

Today's major quakes, mag 6 or higher bring the total in July to 8 and the total for 2020 to 66. Today's magnitude 7.8 is the biggest of the year so far. By the way, all of the major quakes in July have occurred along the Pacific Ring Of Fire.

I am praying for Bill and the people of Alaska. I do wish I could read the entire article. The left banner takes up too much space and blocks some of the article.
