Only the 2nd major quake of October, a mag 6.4 struck off the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu on Monday bringing the year total to 111 in 2019

It is only the 2nd major quake of October,  an earthquake of magnitude 6.4 struck off the Pacific island nation of Vanuatu on Monday, the United States Geological Survey said. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the quake, which the agency said hit at a depth of 226 km (140 miles) about 58 km (36 miles) north of the town of Isangel.

Today's quake is the 111th major quake of 2019 which has equalled the entire year total of 2017, which recorded the lowest number of major quakes this century.
